When I was young…
I was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, JIA (formerly Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, JRA). I grew up with constant joint pain and unable to do what the other kids were doing.
Prison
In my mid-twenties, I started working in support at a prison a month before COVID shut down the state. Usual activities for inmates were halted and the guys were getting little to no programming.
So I studied
I spent many hours reading and researching how guys end up in prison, get out, and then go directly back. The answer I continued to come back to was…. Trauma.
Trauma
Trauma is still fairly misunderstood, but it can be a very wide range of things. In studying trauma for these guys in prison, I realized I had a plethora of my own. And it had been keeping me sick.
What If…
I thought: “but what if I can get better by myself?” Because meanwhile… I was reacting to medication after medication I was taking for my arthritis and I was tired of it.
Nutrition
I got certified as a health and life coach, and ultimately decided I’m a nerd and wanted more. So I enrolled in an online program through CSNN and am now a certified holistic nutritionist! YAY!
Success!
Through education and my own research, I was able to get off my arthritis meds in June 2022. Since then, I have felt the best I ever have! And now I help other people find power in their own health!
